A parish council is an elected body in the most local tier of local government. It exists to represent the interests of the local community and will, for example, regularly make recommendations concerning planning and highways matters.
Stutton cum Hazlewood Parish Council has five members who are elected for four-year terms, the next election being in 2019. They are unpaid volunteers and are not affiliated to any political party. Meetings are normally held on the second Thursday of the month, and members of the public are welcome to attend. The Parish falls within the Tadcaster constituency of Selby District Council and is in the Tadcaster division of North Yorkshire County Council.
